We run a long term environmental surveillance scheme, using otters found dead to investigate contaminants, disease, and population biology across the UK.

This website is for members of organisations in our collection network to access our data.
We record observations and measurements, and archive biological samples that can be of great benefit to ecological research.
Each time you wish to access our data, you will be asked to fill in a form giving us some information about why you want the data/how you will use it. This will give us an important record which we can use to keep our funders informed, attract continued support, and maintain this resource.
We collect samples including, but not limited to: vibrissae, muscle, lungs, spleen, kidney, liver, reproductive organs and parasites.
Sample sharing is done only in the case of fully collaborative research projects, with research proposals discussed and agreed in advance, and co-authorship of resulting publications assumed where appropriate.
